February in the Vegie Patch, Summer Prune Stonefruit + Be Cabbage White Free

Bumble bee on perennial leek flower

February is a key planting time if you wish for an abundant winter. Leeks, parsnips, carrots, brussels sprouts and cauliflowers are in the ground a long time before producing – leeks planted this month will grace your table in spring and carrots + parsnips sown now provide root crops through winter till early spring.

If you want to have a go at sowing celery, parsley and chard from seed you need to get that under way early on this month. Bought seedlings are there as your backup if you don’t get around to it. Either way, we need to get on the job. Book out this weekend and spend it in the garden! Think of me as you plant and sow – garden-less, but happy in our housetruck.

Yours in the earth,
❤️
