Fabulous Fruit Trees!

Fabulous Fruit Trees

April 7 @ 9:30 am2:30 pm

Join Sarah Frater from Edible Garden (our local fruit tree specialist); and myself for the ultimate fruit tree workshop!

We’ll be talking smart design for Pipfruit, Stonefruit, Citrus and Avocado, key companion plants and the importance of rootstocks.

Choosing varieties is overwhelming and it’s easy to stick to the familiar – the ones you see in the supermarket, let Sarah open your eyes to wide + wonderful world of fruit trees. You’ll learn about varieties that match your climate, soil and your needs.

Sarah will give a budding demo and teach you how to prune your new trees.

I’ll be talking biological sprays and natural management to build a strong and resilient orchard system.

We’ll also look at cunning ways to fit fruit trees into small spaces (not dwarf rootstock!)

Fully Catered – plenty of amazing food to keep you going!

Have you ever grown avocado from seed. They are shooting up in my compost heap but I’m not sure if it is worth it. I live in Albany just north of Auckland on land.

    • Yes they grow easily from seed, but sadly its a bit of a gamble – may produce, may not! Lovely big tree though if you have the room, especially up north.

Some 20+ years ago I planted one I had grown from seed and this year, for the very first time, it has fruit on it. So exciting!
