The Abundant Vegie Patch

Please note: This workshop has a date change to 9 November 2013

This workshop is jam packed with all the info you need to grow an abundant vegie patch. Come along, and find out how to reap good harvests! This workshop is a mix of hands on and theory, so wear your gardening gear and bring your gloves. Morning tea and lunch provided.

You will learn all about:

Soil Health: How to make Compost, Making and using liquid feed; how to grow and use greencrops; recycling food scraps; aerating your soils (and why it is so important) – learn how to use a broad fork

Crop Rotation: Understanding crop rotation is essential for the organic food gardener! Rotating your crops prevents pest and disease buildup, and keeps your soils in balance. This knowledge is important no matter how small your plot is.

Design: Choose the best site for your vegie patch; cunning ways to manage weeds; integrated pest management (natures way); and shelter

Seedling Raising: Growing your plants from seed means you can grow robust seedlings (better than any you can buy!) and save lots of money. Learn how to direct sow, tray sow, prick on and transplant – all while keeping your seedlings strong. Learn how to make your own seed raising mix.
