My name is Kath Irvine, and Edible Backyard is my home food garden. My passion for growing food began 15 years ago when I lived in Moffats cottage up Otaki gorge. It was here where I created my first "proper" vegie garden to feed my babies.

Growing food well, requires alot of knowledge, and it's not until you start a food garden that you realise how much there is to know! We've created Edible Backyard with you in mind - a hands on, learning experience to teach you how.

Food growing knowledge is old knowledge - knowledge our forebears took for granted ... they grew up doing it!; and if we are to be self reliant again, we need to re-learn it. Sometimes this feels daunting but trust me, it's a rewarding journey, and I'm here to support you along the way. I look forward to meeting you at Edible Backyard!

AliHi, my name is Ali. I've been passionate about herbal healing for over 20 years, alongside a career in pharmacy. I love all things of the earth - natural living, good health and the good life. My desire is to encourage people to take responsibility for their own health and regain a trust in the power of plants as medicine. My herbal workshops are a hands on, fun experience.

SteveMy name is Steve Howell - I'm a cabinet maker from Nelson. I love playing with wood!, and have a passion for all things organic. I've worked in the recycling industry in Levin, and now combine my passion for recycling with the woodyard at Edible Backyard to create macrocarpa products that provide practical solutions for sustainable living.
